Once Again
By John Legend

"Over ten years have gone by and you're still mine. We're locked in time, let's rewind."

Have you ever had one of those moments that makes you rewind? And then just like that, you can live a lifetime in a moment? See past, present, maybe even a little bit of the future? I had to laugh at myself because someone was talking to me and I envisioned someone else next to me. "She is sitting with you but her eyes are on the door. The woman is wild. If you're ready for love, you not going to get too far." My imagination is going to get the best of me some day. But it was completely rude, right? Maybe I am too concerned with being "fair" to all. But hey, "all is fair in love and war," correct? Uh huh. I'm sure.

Ever had a dream that felt so real, so right, you woke up reaching for it? "It" meaning the dream, the dream of what could be, who could be, the difference surrounding between reality and dream. My perspectives need to be changed, maybe. I have these expectations for myself and other...as well as these walls built around me. I think I need to realize no one will be able to fill them the way I want them too nor will I be able to guard everything. Maybe I need to let go of some things. ha I have these letters under my bed (oh if that doesn't sound like a good start to a song) that I've had for quite some time. Never mailed them. I don't think I have the courage to send them anyways. But...maybe its time to get rid of them. Only collecting dust. No good to me now.

My iPod has been my best friend and my worst enemy this Thanksgiving break. I think its trying to tell me something. Exactly what the message is, I'm still unclear. Hopefully we'll figure it out together. But the weather, the music. It could be a dangerous combination if some circumstances were different.

There are four weeks until Christmas. That's just sickening. Where has this year gone? Don't get me wrong...I am already looking forward to the time off (ha. for multiple reasons!) but why does it seem to be rushed anymore? Ugh. I am such an "old soul" it's not even humorous. I want to travel West. I think for Christmas I want to go to Colorado (pending on a few things) or maybe head down to Vegas. Cirque du Solei has a new show, "Love" - All Beatles music. It sounds like it should be amazing. But at the same time, who wants to leave "home" during the holiday season? Especially if it is snowing. Not this little lady.

On a lighter note. I am thinking of getting a hair cut. oh so random. Oh I know, "but Ellie, you're hair is so short already!!" Well I want to change it up. Maybe it is my desperate attempt to change things with out really "changing" anything. ah aren't we all a little pathetic at times?

"She's strummin' on my six-string...
Across her pretty knees.
She's stompin' out a rhythm...
And singing to me,
the sweetest song."

Distractions make me laugh. Not just my own personal distractions but people who get distracted.

"Maybe you should sing more often...who knows what could happen." ha silly moms.

My mind is so scatter-brained today. Can't you tell since I'm jumping in and out of subjects. Hints the reason for the lyrics/quotes. They are all striking a chord with me tonight.

"And I'll be counting down the days
Don't worry, I won't forget your face
and the way I fit perfectly in your arms
but I'll still be counting down the days."

You want another example of how much of an "old-soul" I am? I think its sad how so much of my communication consists of instant messaging. When did technology and cold, black and white text take hold of personal touches and emotional communication? What happened to handwritten pages, yellowed with the smell of sweet perfume? Is that really only in the movies? Someday.

Ok so I have rambled enough for the night. ha But it actually felt good even though I didn't really say a thing. It's silly that I still talk in code.

Fields of Gold: The Best of Sting 1984-1994
By Sting

You'll remember me when the west wind moves upon the fields of barley.
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky as we walk in the fields of gold.

So she took her love for to gaze awhile upon the fields of barley.
In his arms she fell as her hair came down, among the fields of gold.

Will you stay with me, will you be my love?
Among the fields of barley
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in the fields of gold

See the west wind move like a lover so, upon the fields of barley.
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth, among the fields of gold.
I never made promises lightly. And there have been some that I've broken.
But I swear in the days still left, we'll walk in the fields of gold.

We'll walk in the fields of gold

Many years have passed since those summer days among the fields of barley.
See the children run as the sun goes down among the fields of gold.
You'll remember me when the west wind moves upon the fields of barley.
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky when we walked in the fields of gold.
When we walked in the fields of gold.
When we walked in the fields of gold.

I can't even make a comment on the song. Like the emotion, it's way too powerful. Just makes you think...

More to come later...

But until then, just a few of our random, silly quotes from the past few days to keep you entertained. Keep in mind...99.9% are from Coach.

"Righteous."

"Excuse me miss, but did you just ask me if I was completely retarded?"

"I thought we were homies!"

"Nice ride, girl!"

"Holl-a?"

"Incorrect."

"Ritchey. You scared the shi...the hair out of me!"

"Tap that, Miss Ritchey."

I know you need a friend, someone you can talk to.
Who will understand what you're going through?
When it comes to love, there's no easy answer.
Only you can say what you're gonna do.
I heard you on the phone, you took his number.
Said you weren't alone, but you'd call him soon.
Isn't he the guy, the guy who left you cryin'?
Isn't he the one who made you blue?
When you remember those nights in his arms,
You know you gotta make up your mind.

Are you gonna stay with the one who loves you?
Or are you goin' back to the one you love?
Someone's gonna cry when they know they've lost you.
Someone's gonna thank the stars above.

What are you gonna say when he comes over?
There's no easy way to see this through.
All the broken dreams, all the disappointment.
Oh girl, what you gonna do?
Your heart keeps sayin' it's just not fair.
But still you gotta make up your mind.

Are you gonna stay with the one who loves you?
Or are you goin' back to the one you love?
Someone's gonna cry when they know they've lost you.
Someone's gonna thank the stars above.

Oh and oldie but a wonderful goodie. Late night drives and this song are a dangerous combination.

Your Man

So people definitely make me laugh. For example, today I am driving down Dodge after getting my tire looked at. (ah more to come later) Traffic is way backed up and this chickie is getting a little frustrated because I was supposed to be somewhere an hour ago. We are all stopped at the light at 114th and Dodge. The guy next to me rolls down his window, is practically half way out of his car, and yells, "I really like your car!!!" Thank goodness the light changed and I was able to drive fast for a reason. Yikes. But after it was all said and done...it was quite amusing.

My tires you say? Ah yes. Well I got in the car this morning and the light flashes that says "low tire." wtf? This buggy is only a few months old. ha. So I call my mom (not the best choice for car trouble, I know) and she says, "Oh. We'll just get it checked out later." Great. Now I'm going to die on the side of the Interstate. ha. But after practice I went to the dealership. Spent about an hour or more there. Woo. I start to get impatient...haha go figure. So I walk out to go talk to one of the service guys and tell them I'll get a ride unless my car is finished. "Miss Ritchey is right here and she'd like to know if her car is ready. Alright, I'll send the little lady out to pick up her car." And my goodness! What gentlemen they are. Unlock my car for me...open the door for me...tease me a little bit...and tell me nice things and to have a nice day. Maybe chivalry isn't dead. *laughs* Oh boy. So just another example of how people make me laugh.

haha and then of course there is the nonexistent, nonverbal, "code" communication. Now that's a scream. Two can play that game. ha that's for sure.

Well I have family in town. Ah don't get me started. Must go for now but I reckon I shall return later.
